Dress Code

Mandatory DRESS CODE for All DDA Dance Classes 2016-2017

DRESS CODE: Proper attire is important to start a good attitude toward dance class discipline and allows the instructor to view and correct body placement. Please have your child(s) wear their required dance attire. Hair should be up and away from their face in order to participate.

Music & Movement Program (4 months-2.5yrs):

  • Please wear comfortable clothing for moving and sitting- socks are required for adults and children (no street shoes)

Tiny Tappers/Tippy Toes/Twinkle Stars/Combination Classes (2 1⁄2 -5 years):

  • Light Pink DDA Dance Academy Leotard with or with out attached skirt, Pink Tights, Pink leather ballet shoes & white tap shoes. Boys must wear black-sweats, track pants, or shorts, white t-shirt, black ballet shoes, and black tie tap. (Star is Born Package which includes all DDA dance attire available at http://ddadance.com/dance-shop/) Password is DDA – Leotards might be available at Studio

Tumbling/Creative Movement (4-5yrs):

  • DDA Dance Academy Light Pink Leotard, Pink Tights, Pink leather ballet shoes (No skirts)

Hip Hop Kidz – Kiddie Up (4-6 years):

  • Comfortable dance clothing. Pants: sweats, leggings, yoga pants Shirt: tank or t-shirt or studio apparel. No Jeans! Outside shoes will not be allowed into studio. Clean bottom solid white sneakers or white tennis shoes required - used only for hip hop class – no street shoes on dance floors (specific shoes might be required for our annual recital and will be announced once costume has been chosen.

Hip Hop: 6+

  • PASTRY BRAND BLACK SNEAKERS WITH WHITE SOLE BOTTOMS https://www.lovepastry.com/dance-collection– DDA Customized Glam pie Pastry sneakers - can be ordered online at ddadance.com/shop password is Dda –you may get sized and place order at the Dance Bag in Paramus- Comfortable dance clothing- T-shirts, tank tops, sweat pants, shorts etc. NO JEANS! Hair must be worn pulled back off of the face in a pony tail. If hair is too short for a pony then may be worn in half up, half down fashion. Gentlemen must wear any black pants, black track-pants, or black shorts, and any colored t-shirt. Shoe: Boys- must wear solid black sneaker with clean sole. Outside shoes will not be allowed into studio. NO street shoes- specific strap might be required to customize the look of the sneaker to match recital costume.

Acrobatics “Acro” (6-18 yrs.):

  • Girls: Solid Black leotard and black leggings to ankle/calf/ or Shorts Black Unitard or black biker shorts with footless tan tights. Hair confined up off the neck in a ponytail or bun. Gentlemen must wear athletic shorts and a solid white t-shirt. Dancers will be barefoot for all acro classes.

Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater & Company Dance Class:

  • Solid Black leotard, Black pants or bike shorts with nude tights & TAN split sole JAZZ SHOES for jazz/musical theater and performance/competition class- Tan Tap shoes, oxford style low heel (if you have a black pair from the previous dance season you may wear them until dancer is ready for a new pair) Hair confined up off the neck and back from the face.
  • Gentlemen must wear black jazz-pants, track-pants, or shorts, white t-shirt, black jazz shoes/black oxford style low heel tap

Ballet/Jazz Combo (7-9yrs)

  • Solid Black leotard, black tight capri leggings or bike shorts with nude tights. Hair confined up off the neck and back from the face. TAN split sole jazz shoes/Pink split sole Ballet Shoes (if you have a black pair of jazz shoes from previous year, you may use them until ready for a new pair)
  • Gentlemen must wear black jazz-pants, track-pants, or shorts, white t-shirt, black jazz shoes & black ballet shoes.

Ballet:

  • Black Leotard, pink tights, pink leather split sole ballet shoes, and hair slicked back and pulled back away from the face in a clean bun (hair net bun highly recommended). Ballet skirts are optional. Gentlemen, black ballet slippers close- fitted solid white t-shirt or tank, black bikers, or “jazz” pants

Lyrical/Contemporary/Leaps/Jumps/Turns:

  • Solid-colored Black Leotard, Black pants or black bike mini shorts with beige convertible or footless tights. Shoe Requirement- Tan Turners. Hair must be pulled back away from the face. Gentlemen, close- fitted solid white t-shirt or tank, black bikers, or “jazz” pants, bare feet unless otherwise noted by instructor

Ballet/Contemp./Lyrical/Modern Combination Class (8-11yrs)

  • Solid-colored Black Leotard, Black pants or black bike mini shorts with beige convertible or footless tights. Shoe Requirement- Tan Turners. Hair must be pulled back away from the face. Gentlemen, close- fitted solid white t-shirt or tank, black bikers, or “jazz” pants, bare feet unless otherwise noted by instructor

Adult Classes:

  • Adult Classes do not have a specific dress code… just comfortable clothing to move in!
  • No jewelry except for small stud earrings. No hoop or dangle earrings. No multiple piercing or body piercing to be worn in classes.
  • Please label all your belongings.
  • Students will not be allowed to take class if that are not suitable dressed
